I adored this small, casually elegant resort on the south shore of Antigua on its own beautiful u-shaped bay primarily frequented by UK guests with a growing American fan base.  Its greatest asset is that it is smack-dab on the beach.  You step out of the main open-air restaurant pavilion right onto the sand, and the ocean is just a couple steps beyond.  The sound of the small waves can be heard throughout.    The style of the décor is modern, minimalist European with platform beds and simple clean lines.  There is lush, tropical landscaping and bougainvillea winding up through the balconies.

One side of the property is for adults-only, featuring ocean suites in 3-story buildings.  The other side is devoted to families with 2-bedroom beach suites.  Choose either ground-floor terrace—preferred for families with kids 5 & under—or balcony suites on the 2nd floor.  These suites are right on the sand—great walkout convenience for parents of young children.  The second bedroom has twin beds for the children.  With this kind of proximity, parents can enjoy relaxing beachfront evenings after putting the kids to bed.

There are three outstanding restaurants, and I found the food here to be some of the best I had on the island. It was very fresh and offered many healthy options.  Indigo, which is in a large open air pavilion with amazing ocean views, has table seating as well as club-like inviting gathering spots.  East, a vibrant Asian restaurant is adjacent to the open-air lobby lounge pavilion featuring orchid-studded seating areas.  The newest restaurant, Ottimo!, is poolside with an Italian focus and wood-burning pizza oven.  In the early evening a kids buffet meal is served at the pool for the convenience of families.

There is an inviting kids play center with pool and jungle gym for the youngest set.  All-day activities are included in the rates for kids out of diapers.  Nannies are also available for hire, and many returning guests look forward to seeing their favorite each year.  There are complimentary organized activities for kids in the 7 -12 range, plus movies in the small theatre throughout the day. For the adults, there are yoga and pilates classes, hikes in the adjacent rain forest, many tennis courts (lighted), sailing and kayaking.

Meals are delivered throughout the property for no extra charge—order at any time to your room, beach or pool lounge chair. Rates usually include breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner, waterspouts and activities.
